Turnpike Troubadours
Red Dirt music's brightest band
Why see Turnpike Troubadours?
Red Dirt Boys
Hailing from Oklahoma, Turnpike Troubadours are Red Dirt music's brightest name. In a Country world increasingly ruled by Bro boys and shiny Spring Break anthems, the Troubadours bring the genre right back to its roots - finely wrought vignettes of love and loss. Not many other bands could pull of a track like 'The Bird Hunters' for instance, a wonderful portrait of a man looking back over his failed marriage while out hunting with his childhood buddy.
"The show is about people having fun" Felker says "The more fun they have, the more fun we have." Their record is about the understanding of poetry in a realistic way. Their style comes from country, punk rock, and anything else they like at the time - finding inspiration from "honky-tonks and beer joints"
If Turnpike Troubadours are playing in your town... you'll know about it! And if you're lucky enough to make it into the venue, you're in for an experience of a lifetime.
